Weekly Draw for Yogis

Because we cannot fit many more people into our physical space, unfortunately the bring a partner model won't work for us. However, if you would still like to be entered in the draw for a Fit Together Edmonton T-shirt, for this week you can share with me what your favourite pose is, and tell me why you enjoy it so much!

Yoga Tonight

Greetings yogis!

If you can tear yourselves away from the beautiful evening, I look forward to seeing you tonight at 7:15. Please bring your blankets/towels and any other gear you like to have on hand while practising. I also have received a call from one person indicating she will miss class tonight because she is sick, so if someone wants to fill the spot, please let me know.

Thank-you,
Sue

Grin and Bear Crawl it!

Wow, it was an intense week of bear crawls, stairs, hills, bands, trail runs, push-ups, v-sits, lunges, running, squats and so much more! The weather was perfect and we were still able to workout in the ravine in the daylight. The fall session is flying by and we're nearing half way. We hope to see you all this week!

Weekly Contest

Bring your spouse, partner or girlfriend/boyfriend (they are free!) to be entered in the fall session draw to win your very own cool Fit Together shirt.

Fall Fun!

It was another fun week of fitness! It was great to see you all. We're excited about the upcoming week with some energizing yoga, some runs and circuit in the ravine where we can admire all the fall colours and some fun playground workouts.

Weekly Contest Clue

To be entered in the draw this week we want to hear a Haiku. Think 5-7-5...

Monday Night Yoga

I was so happy to see all of you at yoga on Monday night. I really look forward to a wonderful session to balance out all the busy-ness of life. This class is full, and I apologize to those of you I had to turn away. I will be sure to let you know when I'm able to secure another time-slot for yoga!

Namaste,
Sue

Modified Strollers Schedule

Strollers in the Park will be offered for the remainder of the fall session, until October 29th on Fridays at 10:00am. Unfortunately we just don't have the numbers this time around to offer three days per week. Our apologies to those of you who planned to come on those days--hopefully Friday can work for you too! If not, check out one of our evening or Saturday morning Total Body Conditioning classes.

Sun, Sun, Mr Golden Sun

We're looking forward to another great week at Argyll! Strollers in the Park will be outside unless the weather is awful, otherwise we'll be in the hall. Our Total Body Conditioning class will be outside. Dress prepared. It's lots of fun in the rain! Don't forget our Total Body Conditioning class has moved from 7:00pm to 6:30pm.

Fall Session Contest

This session we will be doing a draw for a Fit Together shirt.

To be entered this week wear something BLUE to class, or to every class to be entered more than once!

Chili Together

This recipe is healthy, nutritious and extremely versatile. You can pretty much throw any leftover vegetables in and it will be delicious! You can also substitute the chickpeas and black beans to beans of your choice. It's filling and will warm you up on these crisp fall days!

1 Tbsp olive oil
1 onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
28oz can tomatoes, undrained
19oz can black beans, rinsed
19oz can chickpeas, rinsed
2 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
3 tsp salt
1 fresh jalapeno pepper (or 2, if you like it hot!)
2 carrots
1 red pepper (cut into 1cm squares)
1 yellow pepper (cut into 1cm squares)
1 orange pepper (cut into 1cm squares)
1 cup frozen corn
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Chop onion. Heat oil in a large pan. Sauté onion and garlic over medium high heat, stirring until soft, about 2 minutes. Add tomatoes, chick peas and black beans. Stir in seasonings. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally and breaking up tomatoes.

Meanwhile, dice jalapeno pepper (avoid touching eyes) and stir into mixture. Dice carrots and peppers and add. When mixture comes to a boil, reduce heat to simmer. Slice celery and add.Simmer uncovered, stirring often, about 30 minutes - until carrots are tender. Add frozen corn and cook chili until corn is cooked. Serve with grated cheese. Flavour improves with at least one night's refrigeration.
